Michelle Kwan won her silver medal at the Nagao Olympics of 1998, almost 20 years ago. She comes from a couple of Hong Kong immigrants that sought a better future for themselves and their child.
Michelle has been a hardworking girl ever since childhood, as she started skating at the young age of five, even managing to win her first skating competition about a year or so later.
Before winning her medal in 1998, she finished 8th at the 1994 World Championships at the age of 13. The girl was close to winning the gold in 1998 even, but fell a bit short near the end and lost to her rival Tara Lipinski.
