Berliner Weisse-
Drink these if…
…you want to be traditional: Professor Fritz 1809 Berliner Weisse– 1809 is a very traditional Berlinerweisse brewed in Germany. It’s high scored by beer experts and is the perfect example of a true German Berlinerweisse. It’s 5% ABV. Pour it in a Hefe glass (tall and bulbous at the top). When there is about a half inch left in the bottle, swirl the bottle and then add the rest to your glass. If its too sour, try lightly swirling in a teaspoon of raspberry or woodruff syrup.
…you want to try something different: Festina Peche- Dogfish Head Brewing- Only available in summer, the Festina Peche is admittedly not for everyone. While not as lip puckering sour as other Berlinerweisse Festina Peche is tart and peachy. 4.5% ABV, pour this into a tulip glass. It won’t be needing any syrup. Festina Peche has as many devoted lovers as it does haters. Try it for yourself.
…you like lemon juice: Hottenroth Berliner Weisse- The Bruery- The Bruery is a very interesting brewhouse. They come up with some very inventive beers. Hottenroth is sour, wheaty, lemony. Not too strong at 3.10%. Try it with or without syrup in a tulip glass. It’s one of the closest to a traditional B.W. we’ve had from a California brewery.
