Karina Petroni, born on January 1, 1988 in the American Canal Zone at the Isthmus of Panama, started surfing at the age of two and spent most of her time growing up in the jungle. In 2000, her family moved to Atlantic Beach, Florida, where she spent most of her time being coached by her champion surfer older brother. When she is not on her board, catching a wave or two, Petroni is also a model, and she has been on the cover of Teen Vogue and Cosmo Girl. She is also a fashion designer, with her own line of clothing.
