If you watched MTV2 in the early 2010s, you know Melanie Iglesias. As one of the most recognizable faces on Guy Code, she delivered quick, deadpan commentary on dating, friendship and everyday life. More than a decade later, she has built a career that spans television, film, music videos and social media. Here is a look at where she started, what she has worked on, and what she is up to today.
Brooklyn Roots and a Big Break
Melanie Iglesias was born on June 18, 1987, in Brooklyn, New York, and she is of Puerto Rican, Italian and Filipino heritage. Her career took off in 2010, when readers voted her the winner of Maxim’s “Hometown Hotties” contest. That win led to magazine features over the following years, including Maxim’s annual Hot 100 list in 2011 and appearances in Esquire and Vibe.
Before most TV audiences knew her name, she was already a familiar face to poker fans. She appeared as the “Royal Flush Girl” on the World Poker Tour, a role that put her in front of the camera across 265 episodes and gave her plenty of on-air experience.
The Guy Code Years
Guy Code premiered on MTV2 in 2011 with a simple format: comedians and personalities riffing on the unwritten rules of being a guy. Iglesias appeared as herself in all three seasons of the show (2011–2013). Her dry, honest take on the topics made her one of the show’s most recognizable voices.
The show’s success spun off into a small franchise, and she was part of that too. In 2013 she appeared on MTV’s Girl Code, the companion series that turned the format around, and she was cast as the bailiff on Guy Court, a comedic courtroom spin-off where cast members settled everyday disputes between friends.

From Commentary to Acting
After the MTV years, Iglesias moved further into scripted work. Her credits include:
- Tosh.0 (2014) – played Stacey in an episode of Daniel Tosh’s Comedy Central show.
- The Keys of Christmas (2016) – a holiday comedy from YouTube creator Rudy Mancuso, with Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled.
- Dead House (2017) – played Tiffani across six episodes of the series.
- Abnormal Attraction (2018) – an anthology comedy with Malcolm McDowell and Gilbert Gottfried, in which she played Catherine.
- Orange Is the New Black (2018) – a guest role as Talia in the hit Netflix prison drama.
- In Da Arcade (2018) – a short film alongside Ben Giroux and Kira Kosarin.
She also kept a foot in the music world, appearing in Bryce Vine’s music video for “La La Land” in April 2019.

Talk Shows and Guest Spots
Along the way, Iglesias has made the rounds as a guest on talk and variety shows, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen and the Spanish-language late-night show Noches con Platanito. She also appeared on MLB’s Off the Bat in 2014.

What Melanie Iglesias Is Doing Now
Iglesias is still acting. She is part of the cast of D.O.P.E. Unit, a crime drama from creator Thomas Walton about a covert police task force in Philadelphia. The cast also includes Jeff Fahey, Casper Van Dien and Kristanna Loken, and she plays a character named Lilith. The series is listed on ALLBLK and Prime Video.
She is also active on Instagram, where she has more than 870,000 followers at @melanieiglesias. Her recent posts are a playful mix of humor, behind-the-scenes moments and personal projects, from sewing videos to her “Doom Diaries” posts.
A Career Built on Personality
Many personalities from the early-2010s MTV era have faded from view. Melanie Iglesias has kept working by leaning into what made her stand out on Guy Code in the first place: her sense of humor and the ease with which she talks to an audience. Whether it’s a comedy cameo, a TV drama or a quick post for her followers, that same personality is still the main attraction.
