We like a lighter sour, a crisp blonde sour. Using wild yeast and bacteria, these beers are bright, crisp, citric, and tart. If you like lemonade, crisp light beer, and sour fruit candy, you’ll like these beers.

Sanctification- Russian River Brewery- Hard to find unless you’re in a very luck bottle shop or at the Brewery in Norcal. Russian River beers are a cult favorite and its easy to see why. They are known for the favorite IPA, Pliny the Elder, and of course for their sours. We love Sanctification because its bright, clean, and citric. It tastes a little like biting into a lemon.  It’s the perfect sour for a summer day. Sanctification is 6.7%, and very carbonated. Its bottle conditioned, so leave the last bit of sediment in the bottle (this goes for most American Wild Ales).

Allagash FV 13- Allagash Brewery– Surely you’ve had Allagash white. Did you know Allagash makes tons of other styles of beer? A little boozier than Sanctification, FV 13 is 8.9%. Its aged in a massive tank made of oak called a foudres. Its very malty and is aged for a couple of years.  You’ll get notes of vanilla, cherry, and apple.

Figaro- Cascade Brewing– A unique take on a blond sour. Figaro is made by aging blonde ale in chardonnay barrels for a few months, then they add figs and lemon peel and age it again. It’s sweet and refreshing. It has the qualities of chardonnay with carbonation, fig flavor, and lemon taste.  It’s  9.5% ABV and was scored as an outstanding beer on Beer Advocate.
