17. The Sydney Funnel Web Spider

Large with glossy-black heads and dark brown bodies, these monstrosities build their funnel shaped webs in moist, dark areas under rocks and logs. Their hard dagger-like half inch fangs bite so deep they usually have to be pulled off by hand. To use their huge fangs, they raise their bodies up and lunge at their victims. They strike repeatedly with enough force to penetrate human toenails.
Their venom can kill in less than an hour.
