Director and musician Robert Rodriguez is the parent of this child named after a spacecraft. There is no mention of why Rodriguez and the child’s mother decided to give him a name like “Rocket,” but perhaps they were especially fond of the 1980’s Def Leppard hit song “Rocket,” or maybe they just wanted to give him a unique name.
