10. Devils Tower, Wyoming

This 1,267 foot rock is located outside of Sundance. It’s summit is a full 5,114 feet above sea level. While nobody knows for sure how this great tower was formed, there is a Native American legend that states three young girls running from bears asked for help from the Great Spirit and he caused the rock to rise and save them. They were then taken into the sky and turned into stars. The towering rock is a wonder to see, but is even more interesting to rock climbers who raise to the challenge of reaching its summit.
