Disaster can strike at any moment, whether we like to believe it or not. One minute we’re happily having some fun with our friends or family or just minding our own business, and the next one, whether by fate’s machinations or plain old luck, we are gone. It’s something that can happen to anyone, even the best of us, and it’s something we cannot really prevent.

Concorde 4590 disaster

Concorde Flight 4590 was the only disaster in the fleets 27-year operational history. As the plane took off a left-hand engine caught on fire. The supersonic jet crashed into a nearby hotel, killing 9 crew members and 100 passengers. Also killed were 4 people on the ground.

The ill-fated crew of the Challenger, making its way to the shuttle where they would meet their end, circa 1986. One of the worst disasters that has occurred to NASA. The ship exploded 1 minute and 13 seconds after taking off. Sadly, none of the crew members survived the explosion.
