25) Mantis Shrimp

The Mantis Shrimp is a flashy, glorious killing machine. This is a rainbow colored shrimp of gem-bright hues capable of seeing colors on a scale far beyond what humans can see, which alone makes it a pretty nifty critter. What makes it deadly are the twin appendages on the front of its body capable of lashing out so powerfully that the force boils the water around the shrimp, sending a shockwave strong enough to kill prey even if they dodged the strike. The process also creates little bursts of sonoluminescence, meaning their murder method comes with a light show. Don’t go looking for one at your local aquarium though, the force of their blows can break through tank glass.
